Description

Join me for a very sacred journey, weaving between the worlds, to birth your medicine drum.

A 1.5 day medicine drum workshop is not just a craft experience to produce a drum.  It is a deep process of spiritual and personal growth that is held in a container of ceremony, sound, prayer and meditation.

Your own drum that has been weaved in ceremony and prayer is such a powerful tool of earth medicine that you simply cannot buy or have made by someone else.  As we attune to the medicine offered by the spirit within the hide, and the hoop, and weave this in prayer, ceremony and intention a magical tool is created.  Every medicine drum holds a unique vibrational medicine, and will offer your reflections and healing in return.  As the relationship is woven, its fabric will reveal aspects ready to be healed or met by you in order to be in your strongest medicine.

A drum, one of the most powerful tool in any earth medicine toolkit.  When made by yourself will propel its power if you are the only one taking care of it and playing it over its life.

Yet a birthing of a drum is a process of spiritual evolution and just like any birth most drums will be birthed healthy and some can even die in the process.  As we stretch and weave the hide, so our ego is stretched revealing that which is ready to be healed.

The drum, beat of the heart, song of pachamamas womb, resonance of creation of this world.

But the drum is not everything, the beater is often a second thought yet it has a role to play.  Just like the drum when created in prayer holds your sacred medicine.  It can even hold aspects of your medicine bag.

What to bring:

• Comfortable clothing
• 2 old towels on which you will craft your drum
• We will work as traditionally done sitting on the floor, depending on the weather this will occur outside in nature near the fire pit, and in rain we will be indoors, so please bring a sunhat and weather suitable clothing in case we spend the time outside.
• If sitting on the floor for prolonged time is not possible you can bring a camping table, I will have 2 tables with me for anyone struggling with bad backs, or if a break from the floor is needed.  Traditionally we’ve always woven the drums on the floor but when holding the space for vision impaired groups I’ve allowed for tables and chairs.  Let me know in advance wheat your body requires.
• Pillow and blanket and / or yoga matt for the meditation and drum baths
• Sacred items – to place on the altar, to weave into the handle of the drum, to add into the beater head
• A stick you find on a conscious walk ideally 1-2cm diameter thickness and anywhere between 20-50cm long make sure its not to brittle that it may break but not too heavy and thick that it gets too heavy to use (I will bring plenty of sticks as well but the medicine is better if nature presents it to you.
Your facilitator:

Esther-Maria is a well respected keeper of ceremonial medicines. She has been apprenticed to various traditional teachers from around the world and has been practicing earth based medicines for over 20 years.

During her longest apprenticeship with the  respected sweatlodge and ceremony keeper Christine Gregg in NSW she has had the privilege to be attuned to the sacred medicine of the drum, and has over the years expanded on that strong foundation. She has held many drum making circles as part of her spirit medicine offering.

Esther-Maria inherently knows the deep healing and weaving that occurs when you weave your own drum.  And how it carries a medicine that you simply cannot buy. It is a sacred process between the medicines of the hide, the hoop and you.
